~ an form of massage in which a local suction is created on the skin; this mobilizes in order to promote release of tissue. mechanical devices (hand pumps) are placed on the designated and suction is applied for about 2 minutes until blood rushes to the surface. Adding cupping to a massage session can be that answer to those pesky knots that just aren’t responding to the general therapy sessions.
~ Swedish massage uses a variety of techniques designed to relax by applying pressure and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Other benefits include stimulation of circulation, and increased in muscle tone. Swedish Massage is such a great way to turn off the hustle and bustle of everyday chaos and focus on you.
DEEP MASSAGE ~ In deep tissue massage, I use manual techniques that target specific areas of tension in deep muscle . Specifically, therapists work to release adhesions, which are rigid bands of tissue that can cause pain and chronic tension and restrict motion.
Often when a client comes in they would like to try deep tissue massage, because they think that will provide them the most effective, and fastest relief of pain. This can be true at times but deep work is not for everyone. it requires concentration on the breath and focus on releasing the area of tension. I work on targeted areas of the body for 3-5 minutes with direct pressure being applied feeling for the muscle to respond. It is great for sharp pain in the back, neck and shoulder but not limited to those areas.
CHAIR MASSAGE ~ Chair massage focuses on the upper body areas that often cause problems for people who sit at a desk or use a computer keyboard. Chair massage can help prevent or relieve carpal tunnel syndrome, , neck pain, and back problems. This massage technique is performed in your normal work attire and requires no oils. Instead of using a table, the massage takes place in a specially designed portable provided by the massage therapist. I will bring everything needed, including massage equipment, supplies and music. All you need to provide is some quiet space and eager participants. Chair massage typically takes about 15, 20, or 30 minutes, no longer than a coffee break, but is far more effective!
HOT STONE MASSAGE ~ Hot stone massage is a specialty massage where the therapist uses smooth, heated stones, either as an extension of their own hands, or by placing them on the body while they massage other parts of the body. The heat can be both deeply relaxing and help warm up tight muscles so the therapist can work more deeply, more quickly.Mary Fouse Massage Therapy Phone: 406-596-5842
