Prenatal is specifically designed for pregnant women to help relieve common pregnancy discomforts and promote mother and baby’s well being.
Pregnancy massage is very gentle and effective and has many benefits for the mother, such as: increasing energy, easing aches and pains, decreasing appearance of stretch marks, slowing the process of, reducing fluid retention, and releasing stress. For the baby, my massage increases blood flow to the baby and provides a relaxing environment.
I provide a warm, soothing and quiet oasis away from life for up to an hour and a half. The mother lies on her side cradling a body size pillow while I work down the back and into the gluteus releasing strained muscles. Next, I move to the limbs helping flush water and other sedentary liquids out of the legs. This releases pressure and helps prevent edema. While your body goes through so many hormonal and size changes, a massage can help alleviate and prepare the skin, tendons and ligaments for labor. As I reach the end of our time together, I will offer a gentle abdominal massage. The baby loves this! I can also assist you with a special stretch where the weight of the baby is temporarily absent.
I truly encourage newly pregnant and later term mothers to experience the joy of massage for both you and baby. It is one of my favorite modalities because new mothers are so appreciative and fun to work on!
It is important to check with your doctor before receiving massage therapy in the first trimester. However, Massage Therapy is perfectly healthy, and SAFE to receive as often as you would like during ALL stages of pregnancy.
Pregnancy massage can also help labor preparation by teaching the mother to consciously release tension and focus on relaxation breathing techniques.I offer side lying position or face down with my new pregnancy cushions!!
